Whether you are a new player, a parent buying a first box, or coming back after years away, here is the simplest path in.

Collecting, playing, or both?

Some people love opening packs and filling binders. Others want to build decks and play. Most do a bit of both. Knowing which you enjoy helps you spend wisely.

Your first purchases

  1. A ready to play deck or two player starter set
  2. Standard sleeves and a deck box
  3. An Elite Trainer Box when you want to open packs
  4. Singles to improve your deck

How a game works, in one paragraph

Each player has a 60 card deck with Pokémon, Trainer cards and Energy. You attach Energy to your Pokémon to attack, use Trainer cards to draw and search, and win by taking all your Prize cards, knocking out all your opponent's Pokémon in play, or when your opponent cannot draw a card at the start of their turn.
